Malaysia -> Sandakan -> Gomantong Caves
Gomantong Caves    Sandakan,

The Gomantong Caves have two interesting claims to fame. The first is that it is the home of the world's largest pile of guano (bat droppings). Similarly, the second is that the limestone caves are the source of the swiftlet nests used for bird's nest soup. Bird's nest soup, a popular Chinese delicacy, is made from the solidified saliva of the swiftlet, minus the feathers and assorted debris. Believed by the Ming to boost the immune system and cure bronchial ailments, these nests are in danger from to illegal harvesting due to the high prices they command. While in the caves, you can see the harvesters scaling long bamboo poles to reach the cave roofs to collect the nests.
