Kampung Baru is the Malay area of town and is incredibly different from Chinatown or Little India. This sleepy village, surrounded by the city, has traditional Malay wooden houses with green gardens. People go about their daily lives and a sense of quiet and calm pervades the area. Heading east, you will run into the Sikh Temple, the largest in Southeast Asia and the spiritual home of KL's 75,000 Sikhs. Nearby is the Muslim KampungBaru Mosque decorated with beautifully glazed tiles. This is also a great place to find tasty Malay food at roadside cafes and stalls.
