Malaysia -> Sandakan -> Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary
Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary    Sandakan,

The Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary is often skipped to visit the Sepilok Orangutan Center, but this fascinating ecofriendly reserve is home to the proboscis monkey. Their appearance with their potbellies, big noses, and awkward bodies earned them the Malay name orang belanda, or 'Dutchmen', hardly a compliment to the first Dutch settlers here! You are practically guaranteed to see the monkeys during feeding time at this sanctuary, drawn in by the specially made sugar-free pancakes on offer. Around 70 monkeys are present at each feeding, as well as several macaques foraging for scraps. Another 300 wild monkeys also live on the grounds, though they usually steer clear of any human contact.
