Malaysia -> Kota Kinabalu -> Monosopiad Cultural Village
Monosopiad Cultural Village    Kota Kinabalu,

The Monosopiad Cultural Village is a popular stop, though it has a hefty entrance fee. Built in the memory of Monosopiad, a Kadazan headhunter, the village is made up of recreated traditional houses, handicraft workshops, a museum, granary, and main hall where performances and native feasts are held. In Monosopiad's ancestral house are displayed the 42 skulls of his enemies with palm leaves for the victim's hair. It is said that Monosopiad became too fond of harvesting skulls and had to be killed by a group of friends. He is buries beneath a stone near the house, his skill intact. Some more tame activities are available to watch or try such as blowpipe shooting, slingshot hunting, rice harvesting, and betel nut chewing.
