Poring Hot Springs were originally developed by the Japanese during World War II and are an excellent respite for sore muscles after a mountain climb. The sulfurous baths are manmade but are surrounded by rainforest. Butterflies congregate on the hibiscus flowers and all kinds of bird fly about the gardens and walking trails. These trails give you great views of the rainforest, bamboo groves, a couple waterfalls, and a cave filled with talkative bats.
